Every golfer wants to hit more greens, hold more greens, and get more looks at birdie. However, finding the ideal set of irons to achieve those goals can vary dramatically from player to player.
For advanced ball-strikers, they'll find the look and shot-shaping ability they need with P750 or P770. For players who want distance in a forged iron, they will find ball speed, clean shaping, and incredible forgiveness in the new P790 irons. Golfers who want true game improvement irons can also find a shape that suits their eye with M1 or M2 irons.
But for players looking to truly take game improvement to the next level, they will find EVERYTHING in the all-new 2017 M CGB irons.
With the introduction of M CGB, TaylorMade enhances the M Irons Family with a new super game-improvement option. In each iron throughout the set, golfers will discover the signature technologies that made both the M1 and M2 irons so successful — Speed Pocket, Face Slots, 360° undercut, Inverted Cone — in addition to new technologies that launch M CGB to the next level of performance. These proven technologies are combined with a clubhead designed with high-MOI using tungsten weighting and an ultra-thin leading edge to deliver full-face forgiveness like never before.
Taking decades worth of irons innovations and uniting them with new technologies, M CGB delivers a complete set of high-performance irons that are long, high, forgiving, and incredibly easy to hit.
Here's a complete breakdown of the technologies you'll find in M CGB that make it one of the best iron sets in 2017:
10 PERFORMANCE TECHNOLOGIES IN EVERY IRON
1. MAX-COR Face
M CGB irons push the limit of maximum distance in every iron with driver-like power and launch conditions. With consistently high COR delivering ground-breaking ball speed throughout the entire set (4-PW), M CGB is the fastest TaylorMade irons set ever made.
2. Ultra-low CG Placement
The center of gravity (CG) in each M CGB iron has been carefully engineered to promote high trajectory and optimized spin rates. The result is effortless launch, massive distance, and incredible height for a soft landing.
3. Milled Tungsten Micro Weights
To further optimize the weighting and balance of M CGB, premium materials were used to achieve the right blend of form and function. Four milled tungsten micro weights (visible on the back cavity) work to achieve ideal performance and feel while also presenting the set with a unique, stylized look.
4. Speed Pocket Technology
One of TaylorMade's signature (and proprietary) irons forgiveness technologies, the Speed Pockets in each M CGB iron have been re-engineered to be 3x more active than the original M2 irons. This helps preserve ball speed on shots struck low on the face to deliver consistent distance, even on mis-hits.
5. Face Slot Technology
Face Slots provide increased ball speed on shots missed toward the heel or toe. Combined with the Speed Pocket, Face Slots help create full-face forgiveness in M CGB for consistent shot-making.
6. Off-Center Inverted Cone
TaylorMade's Inverted Cone Technology essentially creates a larger sweet spot in every M CGB iron. Promoting fast ball-speeds across the entire face, you'll have the forgiveness to take your shots farther no matter where you strike the ball.
7. Large, Stiff 3D Sound Badge
A new sound management badge works within the iron's Geocoustic construction to dampen vibration and create the feel of a flush strike at impact.
8. 360° Fluted Hosel
In order to optimize the CG location in M CGB weight savings from other locations in the club were needed to re-allocate mass. Discretionary weight was carved out from the hosel to enable the incredible low-CG performance of M CGB.
9. 360° Undercut
Similarly to the Fluted Hosel, TaylorMade's 360° Undercut carved out unnecessary mass from beneath the topline to be relocated low and back in the clubhead to enhance the club's overall launch conditions.
10. Hybrar Dual-Cavity Damper
M CGB's fine-tuned sound and feel is a result of the 3D Sound Badge and a new Hybrar Dual-Cavity Damper. Through advanced sound management, M CGB has a sound and feel that will have golfers craving their next iron shot.
