The Clubs Tiger Woods Used to Win the ZOZO Championship & His 82nd Tour Victory | TaylorMade Golf

The onslaught on golf’s history book continues. Tiger Woods captured his 82nd PGA Tour victory at the ZOZO Championship in Japan, tying Sam Snead for the all-time record. Since joining Team TaylorMade in 2017, Woods has further elevated his legacy by winning the 2018 Tour Championship, the 2019 Masters (his 15thmajor championship) and the inaugural ZOZO.

Woods started the week by winning five skins and $60,000 in The Challenge: Japan Skins at Narashino Country Club. After shaking off the rust from a two-month layoff following arthroscopic knee surgery, Woods showed solid form down the stretch. It was a sign of things to come.

Day 2 was met by torrential downpours from a nearby typhoon that suspended play, but not even Mother Nature couldn't drown Woods’ pursuit of history. He took advantage of the soft conditions and hit towering tee shots with his M5 driver and continued to fire at pins with precise iron play. He showed deft touch around the greens with his pair of Milled Grind 2 wedges, and showed great distance and spin control into the greens. A second straight round of 64 gave him a 2-shot lead at the close of the day.

Woods extended his lead to 3 shots entering the final round and dueled it out down the stretch with Japan’s native son. A clutch wedge shot from the rough on the par-5 14th set up yet another birdie. With wedge in hand again on No. 15, Tiger knocked it close for a comfortable par to maintain his lead. Showing great poise and complete control for the week, he tallied 27 birdies versus only 8 bogeys en route to a 3-stroke victory and his 82nd PGA Tour win.
