So looking at upgrading my clubs, have decided on the P790 irons and the M3 Driver is the best fit for me.

was choosing a hybrid but now see the GAPR about to be released in Australia.

any advice on which way to go?

cheers

If you currently play and like a hybrid(s), go for it! If your relationship with hybrids is on the fence, definitely give a GAPR a try.

What about GAPR vs. 5 Wood...Any suggestions?

I would suggest going to a Taylormade certified fitter. It will be worth it. They will look at how you present the longer clubs and show you the data to get you fit into the best club for your swing. I used to just buy what I thought was right for me but after a professional fitting I got the right combination of iron heads and shafts which added 15 yards and tightened my dispersion. I immediately had more confidence in my shots and am scoring much better.

I have not been able to hit a GAPR on the course, only on the range. But my vote is for a 5 wood all day. Currently playing the M6 5 wood, and it is an amazing club. Launches well, easy to work, and doesn't hook like hybrids for me. I would highly recommend a 5 wood in the bag. I currently bag a P790 UDI as well, and while they go the same distance off the deck for me, they are used for different types of shots. Off the tee, the UDI cannot be matched.
