I'll be travelling to Hawaii in October and I wanted to treat my father in law to a round of golf at a really nice course.  I am hoping that a few of you in the community might have some great recommendations.  We'll be staying near Waikiki...

Ko'olau far and above anything else.

Kapolei is pretty pure but very resorty along with the rest of the island.

I'd do anything possible to make Ko'olau happen, its golf and pure Hawaiian beauty.

Have fun!

While there's a plethora of options on Oahu (and really, you'd be hard-pressed to pick a lemon) I'm with @Allan here. Ko'olau is simply stunning. Make sure you bring an extra sleve (or 4) of balls. You're gonna need 'em!

Other tracks to consider:

  • Royal Hawaiian
  • Royal Kunia
  • Turtle Bay (Arnold Palmer course)

Have fun!

So I did play Ko'olau and your recommendation to bring extra (sleeves) balls was spot on. Miss the fairway and you might as well reload.  Beautiful course with stunning views, definitely a serious and fun test, thanks again.
